Establishing a Major Social Media Presence Independent from
His Partners with
Attorney John DeGasperis

WATCH THE REPLAY

We continue our interview series with successful attorney-marketers where we uncover
what's working, what's not, and how you can get on a similar path to growth.
Attorney John DeGasperis didn’t let his partners’ lack of enthusiasm for social media keep him away, and now he is reaping the benefits. Beginning during Covid, he has gathered 76,000 TikTok followers and 2,300,000 million likes.

While his parent firm uses the more traditional marketing avenues of billboards, pay-per-click campaigns, social media, mailers, giveaways, t-shirts, and farmers markets, he:
  • Is now locally recognized by people on the street when he is out and about
  • Receives a second income from the out-of-state cases he refers
  • Obtains cases from his out-of-state referral partners
  • Has been ‘wildly successful’ with Facebook ads generating mass tort clients
  • Is not dependent on his parent firm’s advertising for cases

She spends most of her time talking to attorneys about how to improve their marketing results.

Kara has a vast marketing and writing background, working for several newspapers and managing Entrepreneur magazine's 100,000-member social network before joining James Publishing seven years ago.

Kara is co-author of two books: The Most Effective Law Firm Marketing Agencies, and How Small Law Firms Can Obtain More Referrals. She is the mother of two young boys, and was captain of her Division 1 college swim team.

Guest: John DeGasperis

John A. DeGasperis was born and raised in Kingston, New York. He moved back to Kingston after graduating from law school over a decade ago. Soon after, he joined the Kingston-based personal injury law firm Basch & Keegan, LLP.

John handles the gamut of personal injury cases, such as slip and falls, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, tractor-trailer accidents, wrongful death, medical malpractice, product liability, construction accidents, property loss, and insurance claims.

Currently, John has handled well over 1,000 personal injury cases and recovered more than $30 million dollars in total for his past clients. John has significant trial experience, meaning insurance companies know he’s ready to take them to court if need be. Because of this, insurance companies will frequently invite him to resolve cases through mediation and arbitration, which often paves the way to a favorable settlement without taking the case to trial. Given his level of experience, many of John’s clients are referred to him by his colleagues in the legal community, including judges and court clerks.
